iterations

I make a lot of my “final” pieces through a series of iterations. I’ll experiment on variations of techniques and melodies with smaller pieces, sometimes working on many smaller pieces at once. Some of these iterations evolve into a larger, finished, more “final” piece. How do I know when a piece is finished? I can’t really explain it. I just know. Sometimes the final piece is a series. So, each piece is not finished alone, but when I put them together in a set, then it feels “finished.”
